Tuscaloosa Children's Theatre is proud to offer a TCT Assistantship Program designed specifically for dedicated high school students who are passionate about theatre education and mentorship. This program provides valuable teaching experience while offering financial benefits toward TCT participation.
The TCT Assistantship Program allows high school students (grades 9-12) to assist our professional instructors with year-round classes. Assistants earn credit that can be applied toward their own TCT tuition, private lessons, or workshops, making theatre education more accessible while developing leadership skills.
Assistants earn credits at the rate of $10 per hour of class assistance. These credits accumulate throughout the year and can be applied to:
The TCT 2025-2026 class season runs from September 2025 through May 2026, offering a wide range of classes for students from preschool through 12th grade. Assistant opportunities are available for classes including:
Assistants will be matched with classes based on their experience, interests, and schedule availability. The full academic year commitment allows assistants to develop meaningful relationships with students and instructors while witnessing the growth and progress of their students.
Interested students should complete our online application by August 15, 2025. Applications will be reviewed by the TCT Program Director, and selected candidates will be invited for interviews by August 22, 2025.
