TCT Teaching Assistantship Program

Tuscaloosa Children's Theatre is proud to offer a TCT Assistantship Program designed specifically for dedicated high school students who are passionate about theatre education and mentorship. This program provides valuable teaching experience while offering financial benefits toward TCT participation.

Program Overview

The TCT Assistantship Program allows high school students (grades 9-12) to assist our professional instructors with year-round classes. Assistants earn credit that can be applied toward their own TCT tuition, private lessons, or workshops, making theatre education more accessible while developing leadership skills.

Assistant Responsibilities

Assist lead instructors during weekly classes
Help demonstrate exercises and activities
Provide individual attention to younger students
Aid with classroom management and organization
Support instructors with materials preparation
Assist with performance preparation for showcases
Serve as positive role models for younger students

Compensation Structure

Assistants earn credits at the rate of $10 per hour of class assistance. These credits accumulate throughout the year and can be applied to:

Class tuition
Private voice lessons
Audition coaching sessions
Special workshops

2025-2026 Class Season

Assistants will be matched with classes based on their experience, interests, and schedule availability. The full academic year commitment allows assistants to develop meaningful relationships with students and instructors while witnessing the growth and progress of their students.
